The Essential Disneyland Packing List For Canadians
Planning a trip to Disneyland is an exciting time for the entire family. Once you’ve booked your stay and tickets for your favourite attractions, it’s time to get down to the only (slightly) tiresome part of the entire trip – packing for it. We’ve put together this handy guide that covers everything you need to have on your Disneyland Packing List for the perfect trip.
Must-have Clothes for Your Disneyland Packing List
You’re going to be creating the memories of a lifetime at Disneyland. That means you’ll be taking tons of pictures. So, pack clothes you wouldn’t mind having immortalized in pictures you’ll look at every time someone says ‘remember when’. That being said, you’ll be walking a lot every day, so pick comfortable walking in.
Rain and Cold Weather:
While Disneyland is based in sunny California, it doesn’t mean that it’s immune to chilly weather or a spot of rain. Check the weather forecasts for the planned dates of your trip. As a rule of thumb, January, February, and early March are the main time periods for rain. Forget the brollies through and pick up some rain ponchos from Amazon instead. They keep you nice and dry without having to worry about what to do with an umbrella when you go on a ride.
The days can be hot but it can get chilly early in the morning and after the sun goes down. Pack a light sweater or a comfortable jacket so you remain comfortable throughout your trip.
Dress Up:
Dressing up can make any occasion feel special. Pack some dressy clothes for that special show you’ve been looking forward to or for a meal at one of the more upscale restaurants in Disneyland. You don’t need to go OTT; a nice shirt and trousers for the men and a pretty dress for the ladies will do nicely.
Swimwear:
Bathing suits are essential if you plan on getting in a refreshing swim or two at your hotel pool. Pack in those flip-flops to match.
Sun Protection:
The days can get hot with the bright sun scorching down. Pack large hats that can protect your face and neck. Make sure they are soft enough to fold up and stuff into a backup for when you don’t need them. Pack your favourite sunglasses too. You’ll be glad to have them.
Walking Shoes:
You’re going to be walking miles around Disneyland every day. Carry at least two pairs of comfortable shoes. Closed shoes will protect your feet from the sun. Make sure the shoes you carry are tried and tested so you won’t have sore feet.
Backpacks and Fanny Packs
You’re going to need somewhere to stash your ponchos, hats, sunglasses, water bottles, and all the other extras you need on a day out. Carry a backpack with comfortable straps. Make sure it’s not too big. The larger they are, the more you pack and they tend to feel really heavy at the end of the day.
Many people like to also carry fanny packs for things like phones, wallets, hotel key cards and passes.
Things to Put into Your Backpack:
Apart from things to wear, here’s a list of a few backpack essentials:
- Water bottle – preferably an insulated one to keep your water cool.
- Portable battery chargers
- Camera
- Phone charging cable
- Adapters
- Sunscreen
- Hand sanitizer
- Kleenex
- Lip balm or ChapStick
- Autograph books
- Pens
Apart from these, carry all the usual toiletries you would on a holiday along with medicines, your travel documents, driver’s license, wallet, and itinerary.
Finally, make sure you have some extra room in your suitcase for all the souvenirs you’ll want to bring back.
