Spooky season is fast approaching and with that comes one of Orlando’s premiere Halloween Events,
Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights! Jessica from Timeless Tales Travel, our resident Mistress of All Things Spooky, is sharing her insider tips about how to make the most of this special event!
Since its humble 3-night 1 house beginning back in 1991, this event has expanded to include more than
40 event nights, 10 terrifying haunted houses, 5 sinister scare zones, live shows and specialty themed
food and drinks.
Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event hosted at Universal Studios Orlando, this year’s
event runs select nights from September 1st through November 4th . Ticket options are plentiful and
include everything from a single night pass, to access every night of the event. With special add-ons that
can be included such as express passes, VIP tours, early admissions and even a day-time lights on walk
through of select houses.
So what is Halloween Horror Nights & Who Goes to This Event?
Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event hosted at Universal Studios Orlando, this year’s
event runs select nights from September 1st through November 4th . Ticket options are plentiful and
include everything from a single night pass, to access every night of the event. With special add-ons that
can be included such as express passes, VIP tours, early admissions and even a day-time lights on walk
through of select houses. HHN is a premier haunted attraction at Universal Orlando Resort, it now reaches beyond Universal
Studios and into Universal’s City Walk and Resort Hotels, it is a Halloween experience like no other.
Everyone and anyone can attend this event, it is not recommended for those under 13yrs of age without
adult supervision, However, in my 10+ years of attending the event I have seen all ages including
toddlers walking (technically, they were being carried) through the houses.
Now for the biggest question, Is This Event Right For You?
I am a firm believer that there is always a house, scare zone, or activity that fits all levels of Halloween enthusiast. Especially with the introduction
of the day time tours, the themed bars and the resort photo scavenger hunts.
What Should You Expect?
If you are already in the park for the day, you can take advantage of one of several “holding” areas around the park. This
allows you to remain inside Universal Studios while the park transforms from regular operations to a Haunted Playground covered in dense fog. You will also be able to take advantage of early access to select houses depending on which holding area you end up in. The houses will open slowly throughout the beginning of the night each with their own stand-by line including an approximate wait time.
Jessica’s Special TIP: Purchasing an Express Pass or VIP Tour can help you eliminate any lengthy waits with their own separate
lines.
While you traverse this fog filled after-dark version of Universal Studios you will be stalked by all manner of ghoul and ghost, vampire and demon throughout the five uniquely themed scare zones. These scare zones offer many chances for character interactions, photo ops and an all-round screamingly good time. This year also sees the return of Nightmare Fuel: Revenge Dream, an aerial and pyrotechnic live show that is set to a metal and electronic musical score. Show times are plentiful and you will not be disappointed with the extreme stunts and spectacular visuals of these performances. The food and drink menus have yet to be released but I am sure we will see the return of fan favourites, like the ever popular pizza fries.
While all of this fiendish excitement is happening in the Park, you can also make your way over to
Universal City Walk and check out the Dead Coconut Club, complete with new theming and brand new menus. Or if you are headed back to your Resort for the evening be sure to take advantage of the
Halloween-themed cocktails that will be available at all 8 of the Universal Orlando Resort Hotels, and be on the lookout for The Universal Monsters Gallery of Legends for uniquely horrifying photo ops! Or you can take a stroll on over to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and explore Chucky’s Twisted Playground, complete with 5 unique photo illusions. (Resort Hotel room key req’d)
A trip to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is a fang-tastic way to kick off the spooky season and keep the shrieks going all season long!
